It looks like Handbrake just doesn't take advantage of Zen 2 / high core count CPUs very well. Most of the time we use an image sequence-based format, so each frame is a single image and renders aren't fucked up. If any of your machines outputs a corrupt frame, or the networks craps out, your whole encode is lost. With what I think are similar settings, I am processing at over 300 fps and completing in 6 minutes, using 100 CPU. Distributed encoding to a compressed format is usually pretty rare. For the same settings on the same version of ffmpeg, the result will be the same, though not quite identical files will be produced, encoding turns. I did some more research and decided to try RipBot264 with distributed encoding. vary depending on which cpu does the encoding.
